Projects
I'm delighted to share a selection of projects both commissioned and self initiated.

Cove Park Artist Residency
I embarked on a self-directed artist residency in Scotland to spend intentional time in solitude and to reconnect with the natural world. Each day unfolded through walking, observational drawing, printmaking, and simply sitting with stillness. This quiet, immersive rhythm became a rich and rewarding experience; one that has deepened my connection to place and sharpened the way I observe and understand my local natural environment.

Roald Dahl Museum
To celebrate 20 years of the Roald Dahl Museum, I was commissioned to create an interactive courtyard sculpture. Working in collaboration with artist–fabricator Tony Broomhead, we designed and built a vibrant totem that brings together themes of nature and storytelling. Playful, bold, and welcoming, the sculpture invites visitors of all ages to explore, imagine, and connect with the museum’s creative spirit.

Flower Crown
Flower Crown artwork is the outcome of an exciting collaborative project, The Healthy Hedgerow, aimed at engaging the local community in the celebration of art and nature as part of Wakefield's 'Our Year' festivities. The project encompasses the planting of trees around Sandal Castle with the Woodland Trust, a partnership with Wakefield Museums and Castles, and a unique arts program designed to inspire creativity and caretaking for the natural world among local primary school students.
“Aprille demonstrated a clear understanding of the artist brief, and her creativity and passion really brought the project to life with a stunning flower crown installation at Sandal Castle”

Hedgerow
Hedgerow is two 6m high permanent public artworks installed in York.
The work was inspired by the ancient hedgerow that runs across the site and is a bold, graphical representation of regional flora.
The design evolved through a series of linocut prints developed in part
through workshops with local teenagers. The prints were then refined,
composed, and digitised to allow for fabrication. Each flower panel was
laser cut in steel and powder coated in bright contemporary colours. The panels are separated in layers giving the piece depth and creating shadows that reflect the entwined nature of the hedgerow.

Herbaceous
A solo exhibition celebrating the beauty, strength, and wisdom found in the stages of womanhood, as we embrace the botanical echoes that resonate through cycles of nature.

Wonder Love
Playful installation designed to infuse a co-work environment with a sense of joy and camaraderie.
The design of Wonder Love started life as a series of
playful linocut prints based on childhood stories. Collecting
stories became a key part of the engagement process with
residents.
The stories where then realised through a variety of
ways, including interactive games of consequences to audio
recordings of everyday narratives and love poems.
